모음 발음시 모음에 따라 위치가 Front/Central/Back 나뉨

Front Vowel - 혀가 앞쪽에 입술은 둥글지않게  

/ɪ/ as in list          *주의 Least와 다른 발음 

/i:/ as in seem

/ɛ/ as in met

/æ / as in fact

 

Central Vowel - 혀가 입 가운데 에 입술은 둥글지않게  

/ʌ/ as in up

/ə/ as in away

 

Back Vowel - 혀가 입 뒷쪽에 에 입술은 둥글게  

/ʊ/ as in took

/u:/ as in room

/ɑ/ as in cost
